The 24 Hours Nürburgring also called "The Green Hell" is a GT and touring
car endurance racing event held once a year in Germany..

When Kuk-Film in Munich needed a stereoscopic editing and effects system
to complete their production of the film "The Green Hell", they found
a perfect match in the tool set of IFXs latest Piranha Stereo products.

For the project, over 50 crew members, equipped with seven stereoscopic
cameras were brought in to cover the famous annual race held on the 22km
North Loop of the Nürburgring Nordschleife

Hydraulx Visual Effects in Santa monica began work
on the James Cameron film Avatar this week and has chosen
to adopt the new IFX Piranha Stereo platform to meet their needs
for real time stereo preview as well as stereo effects
tasks such as plate adjustment and inter-eye color correction.

The new Piranha Stereo pipeline at Hydraulx allows every animator in the facility to
quickly preview stereo content on any of 20 Hyundai 24" stereo monitors

The demonstration will include a live feed from
2 Red Cameras mounted on the SwissRig Stereo Beamsplitter.

The Piranha On-Set Software allows for fast calibration of the camera rig
as well as automatic recording of quicktime dailies during the shoot.

Starting in August, NASA's Kennedy Space Center will be using two
Piranha Multipipe Systems to work directly with their 4K film scans.
Each of the two systems consisting of dual 24Terabyte arrays combined
with the Nvidia Quadroplex graphics systems allow the Film Analysis
group at Kennedy Space Center to display full 4K film sequences directly
on their 4K JVC projector. The two Piranha systems are connected via
DDR Infiniband to further expand their compute and analysis through put.

Kuk Film in Munich, respected innovators in the world of stereo commercial
film, are currently using Piranha on their latest project a doccumentary
3D film on the 24hour race.

The Kuk setup includes Two workstations, each with around 20TB of storage
interconnected with 10-Gigabit Ethernet. With full color panels and each
system capable of supporting a realtime full HD uncompressed workflow with
dual-channel display and correction.
